Sumit Thakur, the only son of a school van driver from Jharkhand, Vijay Kumar Thakur and has become an IAS officer. Sumit secured AIR 263 in the UPSC CSE results 2021-22 and this was his 3rd attempt at cracking UPSC.
Sumit did his schooling from Ramakrishna Mission School, Bistupur. He got a BTech degree in Computer Science from BIT Sindri in 2018 and he bagged jobs in multiple big companies but declined the offers to pursue his dream of becoming an IAS.
Sumit stayed alone in Bangalore to prepare for the exam. he joined coaching classes for GS Papers but left only after 3 months and started self learning.
